Analysis of Seasonal Precipitation Rate in Nigeria Using Dataset from Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract The study aimed to analyze the seasonal precipitation rate using dataset retrieved from TRMM over Nigeria. Seasons evaluated are December February (DJF), March May (MAM), June August (JJA) and September October (SON) ten years (December 2009-November 2019) data acquired base. result shows that, differs these ranges light northern regions heavy in southern regions. For DJF season, experience little or no especially during dry season. Meanwhile, MAM, JJA SON seasons, experiences moderate (0 ≤ R < 5 mm/h) according World Meteorological Organization (WMO) while (0.1 ≥ 0.5 with its peak at MAM seasons which correspond wet months/season early It follows that obtained this work is agreement WMO. will provide an insight on event turn, help decision making various ways of adaptation also, planning outdoors events such as agricultural activities (food securities), sport also telecommunication aviation increase increases attenuation communication link.

Very high resolution precipitation climatologies from the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission precipitation radar

[1] To investigate processes related to the interaction of topography and precipitation, a tropics-wide (±36 latitude) high resolution (0.1 ) ten year (1998–2007) rainfall climatology is presented from the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) precipitation radar (PR) using algorithm 2A25 version 6 near-surface rain. We observe a tight coupling between precipitation and topography with dis...

Global variability of precipitation according to the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission

[1] Numerous studies have documented the effect of El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) on rainfall in many regions of the globe. The question of whether ENSO is the single most important factor in interannual rainfall variability has received less attention, mostly because the kind of data that would be required to make such an assessment were simply not available. Until 1979 the evidence linki...

Diurnal rainfall pattern observed by Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission Precipitation Radar (TRMM‐PR) around the Indochina peninsula

[1] This study addressed the diurnal cycle of rainfall during the summer monsoon season (May to September) around the Indochina peninsula, with a focus on the diurnal cycle’s relationship to terrain. The investigation used 10 year (1998–2007) Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission Precipitation Radar (TRMM‐PR) observations. Results revealed that the diurnal variations in rainfall over the Indochin...
